Seems like summer is flying by and before you know it, we’ll be gearing up for back to school. Hair Cuttery wants to help your kids get ready for school while giving them an opportunity to give back to kids in their community with our Back-to-School Share-A-Haircut program. For many, getting their child a fresh haircut before the school year begins is on their to-do list, right up there with picking out some new clothes and school supplies. Unfortunately for many children, this is not a reality. Our Share-A-Haircut program aims to change that and ensure children in our communities aren’t deprived of this simple, but essential, service.
How does the Share-A-Haircut program work?
This year, we’re committed to increasing the number of free haircuts we donate, but we need your help. So while you’re out back-to-school shopping, stop in to any Hair Cuttery salon from August 1-15 to purchase your child’s haircut and we’ll donate a free haircut certificate to a child in need right in your community. Make sure to take a picture with our Share-A-Haircut photo frame and post it to Instagram or Twitter with #ShareAHaircut to be featured in our wall gallery! Even if you don’t have a child, you can still take part in donating a haircut by sharing our Share-A-Haircut Facebook post to your friends and family!
How are the free haircut certificates distributed?
To ensure the free haircut certificates go to those who need them most, after the program has concluded, we will send the certificates to our partner agencies based on the agencies’ needs and we ask them to distribute the certificates to their clients. We currently work with over 120 organizations, some of which include Boys & Girls Clubs, Catholic Charities, Children and Youth Services and various school districts.
Since the program began in 1999, we’ve donated over 978,000 free haircut certificates to underprivileged youth via partnerships with local government and non-profit agencies. Together, we can continue making our children look good and feel great!
